Description	:	Randal Eugene "Randy" Maruhn, 53 years of age, of Oxford, passed away following a long battle with cancer on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center at Holdrege, Nebraska. Randy was born March 23, 1955 at Oxford, the son of Harry and Pearl (Leach) Maruhn. Randy was baptized and confirmed at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Oxford. Randy received his primary education at Mascot, Nebraska through the seventh grade and then graduated from Oxford High School with the class of 1973. Randy was born March 23, 1955 at Oxford, the son of Harry and Pearl (Leach) Maruhn. Randy was baptized and confirmed at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Oxford. Randy received his primary education at Mascot, Nebraska through the seventh grade and then graduated from Oxford High School with the class of 1973. During high school and following graduation, Randy gained experience in the family well drilling business. This early training in well drilling would lead to a life long career. Randy began his own well drilling business and later operated a Title and Abstract Company in Beaver City, Nebraska. On October 8, 1988 he was united in marriage to Peggy Wentling and to this union two sons were born: Jared and Cole. The family made their home in Oxford. In the years to come, Randy would continue his work as a Manager of a small well division in Holdrege and surrounding area. Until his failing health he was employed by Holdrege Well Service. Randy had a special talent for water witching, and was well known by many as the "Water Wiz". He enjoyed the time spent with his family at the lake jet skiing and camping. Many friendship bonds were formed through years in pool leagues and coyote hunting. He felt a great sense of pride when he was watching his two boys in their sporting events. Family was of utmost important to Randy and spending time with the love of his life, Peggy was the highlight of each day. Randy leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Peggy of Oxford; sons: Jared Maruhn of Hays, Kansas and Cole Maruhn of Oxford; his mother, Pearl Henry of Holdrege; brothers: Leroy Maruhn and his wife, Janet of Red Cloud, Nebraska, Ronald Niles and his wife, Phyllis of Adams, Nebraska; sisters: Lois Bender and her husband, Darrel of Vincennes, Indiana, Cynthia Frink of Holdrege and Bonita Loper and her husband, Dick of Sun City, Arizona; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dale and Lois Wentling of Oxford; brothers-in-law: Craig Wentling of Oxford and Scott Wentling and his wife, Mel of Grand Island, Nebraska; and a host of relatives and friends. Randy was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
