Description	:	UPLAND — Randal Lee Volk, 55, of Upland died Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at his home south of Upland. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden with the Rev. Christopher Hazzard officiating. Burial will be at Macon Union Cemetery. Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden is in charge of the arrangements. The son of Dallas Volk and Hazel (Steinkruger) Volk, Randal was born Oct. 23, 1960, at Franklin County Memorial Hospital in Franklin. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Upland. As a little kid, he designed his own toy farm properties with buildings, pivots, bins, roads, ditches and imaginary fields of corn and soybeans. When he was older, he helped his mom and dad on the farm, attended Upland Public School through the sixth grade and then went on to Minden High School and graduated in 1979. After he graduated from high school, Randal turned his childhood dreams into reality, working his entire life as a farmer and rancher alongside his father, Dallas, and brothers, Roger and Ardell. Randal loved operating John Deere equipment, semis and Caterpillar scrapers, taking care of cattle and his dog Buddy, growing and harvesting crops, and being outdoors. Randal was an avid Tri-City Storm hockey fan and enjoyed visiting with other people and playing cards. He was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel. Left to treasure his memory are his father, Dallas Volk; brothers, Roger and Ardell; sister, Marcia and brother-in-law Henry; uncle, Leland Steinkruger and aunt Betty; uncle, Alvin Volk; uncle, Wayne Volk and aunt Jonquil; uncle, Leslie Worley; cousins, Kayleen Schepker, Jane Naslund, Leon Volk, Martin Volk, Lora Volk, Mary Volk, Matt Volk, Sandra Jameson, Keith Worley, Leann Hawes and Brenda Worley; and many family and friends.
