Description	:	Funeral service for Randall "Randy" Mehlhaff, 41, of Groton will be 11 a.m., Friday, November 7, 2008 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church at Aberdeen. The Rev. Jeff Whillock will officiate. Burial will be at Randy's family farm. There will be a prayer service Thursday at 7 p.m. with visitation from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Randall Mehlhaff, son of Marvin and Joann (Huwe) Mehlhaff was born July 12, 1967 at Aberdeen, SD. He grew up in Bath. He was a middle child in a family of six children. He went to school in Bath and later in Groton, SD. He worked for the BNSF Railway in Willmar, MN from 1993 to 2003. He was united in marriage to Sally Koller on July 26, 2002, at his farm. It had always been Randy's dream to be able to move back onto the family farm to be closer to his family and surround himself in the serenity and peacefulness of the country. His dream finally came true in 2003, when he and his family moved back to the family farm southwest of Groton, SD. Shortly after moving back, Randy began employment at Poet bio-refining and was employed there up until his death. Recently, he also started a tree cutting service; he proudly named "Eager Beaver Tree Service". Randy liked riding horses and thoroughly enjoyed anything that had to do with horses. He was musically inclined and not only enjoyed listening to music (he had a very extensive collection of tapes and CD's) but also played guitar. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, being outdoors, and spending time with family and friends. Randy was the kind of person who would drop what he was doing, any time of the day or night, to help someone in need. Survivors include his wife, Sally, his father, Marvin Mehlhaff of Forbes, ND, his mother, Joann Mehlhaff of Frederick, SD, two daughters, LaTasha Mehlhaff and Shantel Mehlhaff, both at home, three step-sons, Travis Kiefer of Stanford, California, Derek Kiefer of Aberdeen and Colton Kiefer, at home, two brothers, Ken Mehlhaff of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Chris (Wendy) Mehlhaff of Westport, SD, three sisters, Barb (Gene) Kiekmann of Denver, Colorado, Marva Mahlhaff of St. Paul, Minnesota and Pam (Dillon) Cutler of Frederick, SD and numerous nieces and nephews. His paternal and maternal grandparents preceded him in death. Honorary Casketbearers will be Randy's brothers and sisters. Casketbearers willbe Tom Gunther, Jamie Mattern, Greg Killion, Swede Monson, Channon Stange, Dion Jacobs, Greg Kirnan and Richard Taylor. The organist will be Arliss Alberts and the soloist is Peter Frank. The family prefers memorials be made to SD Juvenile American Diabetes Association, 14216 Dayton Circle, Suite 6, Omaha, NE 68137. Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory of Aberdeen have been entrusted with arrangements.
