Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach. The Rev. William Voelker will officiate. Burial with military rites will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Wolbach. Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home of St. Paul is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Wibbels was born Oct. 13, 1925, in Wolbach to Algie and Lollie (Anderson) Wibbels. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Veda of Grand Island; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bryan of Wolbach and Paul and Michelle of Hastings; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lollie and Tom Dugan of Greeley, Marta and Tim Dugan of Greeley and Kay and Dennis Budde of Grand Island; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Edsel and Cathy of Columbus, Leonard and Betty of Grand Island and Melvin and Beverly of Boise, Idaho; and sister and brother-in-law, Florence and Stuart Teter of Wolbach. Also left to cherish his memory are 13 grandchildren, James Dugan, Cole Wibbels, Shane Wibbels, Melody Dugan, Cherie Dugan, Daniel Dugan, Megan Dugan, Lauren Wibbels, Garrett Wibbels, Shelby Budde, Samuel Wibbels, Sydnie Budde and Anna Wibbels; and three great-grandchildren, Ryley Dugan, Allyson Dugan and Jackson Wibbels. Ray attended Starr Country School and graduated from Wolbach High School in 1944. He was active with the Merchant Marines from 1944 to 1945. After leaving the military, he came home to farm with his family. Ray was united in marriage to Veda (McCain) Wibbels on Dec. 26, 1948, in Spalding. Ray was an active farmer in the Greeley County area for many years, retiring in 1988, but up until December 2003 continued to make many trips to his farm in Wolbach. Ray was baptized, confirmed and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach until 1988, at which time he joined Peace Lutheran Church in Grand Island. Ray was an active member on the church councils, school board, and was especially proud to be noted as the first president of the rural fire district. After retiring, Ray started a collection of miniature tractors, collecting replicas of all the tractors he had used on his farms. Ray also restored numerous tractors of which he was so proud, especially when he was finished and he would give one of them to this children. Ray was a great husband, father, grandfather and "friend" to all. He was always generous and wanted to help others right up until his death. He will be truly missed by many. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria, in 1994, and by his parents. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church or Peace Lutheran Church
