Description	:	Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” Monday, November 20, 1967: Ray C. Ballard, 70, of 213 N. Birth Street was dead on arrival at the Morton F. Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Fla., shortly after 8 a.m. Saturday following a sudden heart attack. He and Mrs. Ballard had been in Florida since Oct. 12. Mr. Ballard retired as a locomotive engineer from the Burlington Railroad Sept. 30, 1962, following 45 years of service. He was the son of William N. and Esther Powell Ballard, born in Ottumwa June 2, 1897. He had been a lifetime resident here. He was a member of Pickwick Church of Christ, Empire Lodge 269 A.F.&A.M., the Chapter Council and Commandery in Local Ottumwa’s Masonic Bodies, the Kaaba Shrine in Davenport, the B. of L.E., and the Burlington Veterans Association. He was married to Rose E. Bush April 30, 1916, in Ottumwa. She preceded him in death Oct. 28, 1947. On June 9, 1952 he married Marie C. Sriver, in Ottumwa. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Louise Hagans and Eva Mae Williamson of Ottumwa; five grandchildren; two stepsons, Charles and Francis Sriver of Ottumwa; two stepdaughters, Rosetta Dreher of Bastrop, La., and Dorothy Krizer of Ahaheim, Calif.; and nine stepgrandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Dorothy. The body has been returned to Johnson Funeral Chapel, where services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in charge of Minister Oral Morgan, pastor of Pickwick Church of Christ. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery.
