Read More	Obituary GAFFNEY, SC-- Ray Kenfield Starnes, 85, of 546 Victory Trail Road, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center. Born in Van Wyck, SC, he was the loving husband of Frances Humphries Starnes for 59 years and the son of the late Walter Starnes and Odessa Courtney Starnes. He was a United States Navy WWII Veteran and was stationed on the USS Shamrock Bay aircraft carrier. He retired from Grinnell-Simplex Fire Protection and formerly worked for Duke Power. He was a member of United Association of Pipefitters for 65 years, Woodman of the World, the Cattleman's Association and was an avid farmer. Mr. Starnes was a member of Limestone Street United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, also surviving are two daughters, Dale Greene and husband, Chuck and Donna Moore and husband, Lewis, both of Gaffney; a brother, Wayne Starnes and wife, Marie of Columbia; two sisters, Evelyn Gamble of Lancaster and Bernice Calebro of Charlotte, NC; six grandchildren, Christina Greene of Gaffney, Anna Greene of Gaffney, Becky Moore Douglas and husband, Kirk of Gaffney, Laci Starnes of Gaffney, David Moore of Americus, GA and Jimmy Starnes of Cowpens; two great-grandchildren, Seth Douglas and Emma Douglas; and a special caregiver, Tammy Hendricks. Mr. Starnes was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Starnes; two infant sons; and three brothers, Truesdale Starnes, Ralph Starnes and Carter Starnes. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM on Monday, March 26, 2012, at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00 PM with Rev. Ron Singleton officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to: Limestone Street United Methodist Church, 910 North Limestone Street, Gaffney, SC 29340 or a charity of ones choice.
