Description	:	Ray L. Hickerson, 94, of Lincoln, formerly of Hemet, CA, left this world peacefully to be with our Lord on April 11th, 2018. Ray was born to Harry and Rilla Hickerson on the family farm outside of Pleasant Dale, NE on November 10, 1923. After graduating from Milford High School he married his sweetheart Viola Gocke, a union that would last 62 years. Ray joined the Army and served in WWII from December 1942 to December 1945 with the 555th Signal Aircraft Warning Battalion. Hickerson, 94, of Lincoln, formerly of Hemet, CA, left this world peacefully to be with our Lord on April 11th, 2018. Ray was born to Harry and Rilla Hickerson on the family farm outside of Pleasant Dale, NE on November 10, 1923. After graduating from Milford High School he married his sweetheart Viola Gocke, a union that would last 62 years. Ray joined the Army and served in WWII from December 1942 to December 1945 with the 555th Signal Aircraft Warning Battalion. A combat veteran of all 5 campaigns-Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. Returning home to Vi, together they built a good life. Ray and Viola raised two kids, Steven and Susan. Ray worked at DuTeau Chevrolet and retired after 30 plus years as Manager of the New Car, Fleet and Lease Sales Departments, moving to Hemet, CA for an earned life of leisure. His beloved Vi passed in 2005 and in April 2015 Ray returned to Lincoln. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post #3, the Forty and Eight-Vioture Nationale, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #131 and Disabled American Veterans-Golden State #56. Throughout his life Ray enjoyed a good laugh and humor, reading, drowning worms and traveling. He was also an avid golfer and enjoyed the good times spent with family and many wonderful friends. Preceded in death by parents, wife, Viola, son, Steven, son-in-law, Robert “Bob” Lorenz, sister, June Ackerman, brothers, Paul and Bob Hickerson.
