Hickerson Viola Mae Hickerson, of Hemet, CA, died February 18, 2005 at her home in Hemet at the age of 79 years 3 months and 5 days. She was born on November 13, 1925 in York, Nebraska to Walter and Jennie Gocke and was raised on a farm south of Waco. She was baptized on December 13, 1925 and confirmed on April 2, 1939 at St. John's Lutheran Church near Waco. She was united in marriage to Ray Hickerson on August 26, 1942 and to this union a son, Steven, and a daughter, Susan were born Viola worked for the State of Nebraska in the Agriculture Department as a seed analyst for 15 years. Her greatest joy was raising her children. She has been a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Hemet, CA for the last 19 years. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ray Hickerson, Hemet, daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Bob Lorenz, Lincoln, NE, brother, Vilas Gocke, San Mateo, CA, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of wonderful friends. Viola was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Jennie Gocke and a her son, Steven in 2004.A Memorial Service was held at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Hemet on February 22, 2005. Inurnment and graveside service will be at Blue Mound Cemetery, Milford, NE on March 5, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. The family requests memorials be given to your favorite charity or the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in lieu of flowers.
