He was born on August 13, 1933, at Grandma Stuart's house outside of Quietus, Mont., to Claude and Bessie (Biel) Finley. He was raised on the Finley homestead on the Fence Creek. Read More	Ray Stewart Finley, 74, died on July 27, 2008, at the Finley ranch in Lance Creek, surrounded by his family. He was born on August 13, 1933, at Grandma Stuart's house outside of Quietus, Mont., to Claude and Bessie (Biel) Finley. He was raised on the Finley homestead on the Fence Creek. He graduated the eighth grade at a country school and attended ninth grade in Sheridan. He began riding horses at the young age of two, manned the sheep camp by himself at the age of nine, and operated a successful cattle and dairy ranch at 29. He married the love of his life, Edna Mae Jacobs, on August 2, 1951. They worked and began their family on the Walter Bail's ranch. They then moved to his parents' ranch in St. Ignatius, Mont. He and his wife took over the Finley ranch in 1962. There they continued to raise their three boys. He and his wife lived happily on the Finley ranch until his wife died. He spent time in Wyoming helping his son on the ranch, doing what he loved most. His son and daughter-in-law had the honor of caring for him during his last few months of life. He was an honest, hardworking rancher. His love was for his family and cattle ranching. He is survived by his sister, Wanda Blakemen and her husband; sons, Tom and his wife of Casper, Larry of Hanna, and Monty and his wife of Lance Creek; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Bessie Finley; brother, Loy; sister Clauda; and his loving wife, Edna, in 2006. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Saint Ignatius, Montana.
