Read More	Raymond Alexander Armstrong was born on November 3, 1901 at Waubeek, Linn County, Iowa, where his older sister, Leta Margaret Armstrong, was born, and where the family farm was located for many years. His parents were Francis Edwin "Frank" Armstrong and Sarah (Hodgin) Armstrong. Raymond's mother, Sarah (Hodgin) Armstrong, died within two months of his birth. The father chose to give baby Raymond to John Ash Armstrong and his wife, Minnie (Hodgin) Armstrong, who were blood aunt and uncle - on both sides to baby Raymond. Raymond's sister, Leta, stayed with the father, Frank, and was raised by Frank and his third wife, Christie Ann Wertman. Raymond lived with his aunt and uncle until about 1921 when he lived in Cedar Rapids and worked for Penick & Ford on 326 S. 3rd. In 1940 Raymond lived with his aunt Minnie (Hodgin) Armstrong, and he worked as a transportation agent. In 1941 Raymond still lived in Cedar Rapids and worked as a salesman for Hudson Sales Co. on 610 2nd SW. In 1942 Raymond registered for the draft. This record showed that he was 5' 7", 145 lbs, blue eyes and brown hair. In 1945 Raymond worked as a machinist at an Auto Parts Company. Raymond A. Armstrong, 46, son of Frank and Sarah Armstrong, died on June 16, 1948 at the Minnesota State Sanatorium for Consumptives.
