Frank’s wife, Bertha, died on 30 Aug 1896 just one year after their marriage. There are some family members that believe there was a baby born that did not survive which leads me to believe Bertha may have died either in childbirth or shortly after.
Marriage to second wife, Sarah L Hodgin on 30 Jun 1897. Frank and Sarah had 2 children together:
1. Leta Margaret born 8 May 1899 in Maine, Linn Co, Iowa, married Glenn Scott Dille abt 1923, died 18 Apr 1958 in Tulsa, Oklahoma; and
2. Raymond A Armstrong, born 3 Nov 1901, died in 1948 in Linn county, IA (unknown if he was married or had any children).

Frank’s 2nd wife, Sarah, died on 29 Dec 1901 in Linn county, IA.
The 1910 US Federal Census Report shows Frank living in Brown, Linn county, IA. The 3rd wife’s name is transcribed as ‘Christian’ but could also be Christine. Franks occupation is listed as ‘Farm Operator’.
The 1920 US Federal Census Report shows Frank and “Christie” living in Brown, Linn county, IA with his daughter from his 2nd marriage, Leta, living with them. Frank’s occupation is listed as ‘Farmer’.
The 1930 US Federal Census Report shows Frank living alone as head of household and married; occupation is still ‘Farmer’.
The 1940 US Federal Census Report shows Frank still living in Brown, Linn county, IA as a widower now. His 3rd wife, Christie, must have passed away since the last census. His occupation was Farm Manager and he lived and worked on the farm of Maude E Duncan, (still working at the age of 69). This census year also reports highest grade completed, which for Frank was 7th grade; and lists the class of worker, which was, ‘wage or salary worker in private work’
Francis Edward “Frank” Armstrong died on 12 May, 1947 at the age of 76. He was buried at Jordan’s Grove Cemetery in Central City, Linn county, Iowa next to his 2nd wife, Sarah L. (Hodgin) Armstrong with a shared headstone.
