He was a member of Zion American Lutheran church, Wyoming. He grew up on a farm west of Wyoming. He attended country schools and the high school in Wyoming. July 1, 1939, he was married to Florence Dirks at Maquoketa. Couple made their home in Wyoming since their marriage with the exception of one year they spent in Center Junction. He worked as a farm hand for many years. The last 13 years he had worked for Iowa Manufacturing Co., Cedar Rapids. Survivors Listed Survivors include his wife, Florence; one son, Ronnie, Wyoming; one brother, Malvin Martensen, Wyoming; one sister, Minna, Mrs. Lester Ankeny, Anamosa; an uncle, Chris Hansen, Wyoming, an aunt, Mrs. Patria Bramer, Springville. He was preceded in death by his parents and a half sister.
