Mr. Boes passed away at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines on Monday, July 20, 1998. Interment was made in Wall Lake Cemetery under the direction of Farber & Otteman Funeral Home, Military Graveside Rites were by the Fred F., Norman J. Bruening American Legion Post #607 of Breda. Raymond B. Boes was born on January 10, 1921, at Breda, the son of Theodore and Anna Schulte Boes. He served in the U.S. Army in the countries of Australia, Japan and the Phillipines. He married Margaret Dunn on February 28, 1949, at St. Joseph's Church in Wall Lake. The couple lived and farmed in the Breda area for ten years. Raymond purchased the McLaughlin family farm in March of 1958. He was very active in his church community by serving as lay minister, usher, CCD teacher and rosary leader. He was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Breda Legion. Survivors include his wife, Margaret; three daughters: Mary Boes of Waterloo, Jeanne (Mrs. Denny) Hornick of Bayard and Anne (Mrs. Jim) Riesberg of Carroll; four grandchildren: Shantel and Amber and Zachary and Hannah Riesberg; two brothers, Albert and Earl of Breda; and two sisters, Matilda Thelen and Rose Ludwig of Carroll. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Clem, Tony, Clarence and Edmond; and one sister, Philomena Thelen.
