Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 3 p.m. from the First Baptist Church by Rev. Carl Lewis his pastor. Burial will follow in Eastside Cemetery. A resident of 39 Entwistle St., East Rockingham, White began raising poultry about 1947(note - while in high school). He soon started the operation of processing broilers for market. In several years his plant off the Airport Road became too small and plans were made for expansion. With the cooperation of the Rockingham Chamber of Commerce a company was formed and funds raised for a new $80,000 plant on the Hospital Road. (Note--the loan was repaid 2 years ahead of time). The new building was dedicated with formal ceremonies on Oct. 22, 1958. Initial employment approached 100 persons and the plant has expanded several times since it's opening. White Poultry Company broilers are sold by the thousand in a several state area. White has been active in the management of the plant with his sons Glenn and Austin. White is survived by his wife, the former Ruby Wilson; two sons Glenn W. and Austin R., both of Rockingham, one daughter, Mrs. Charles B. Wyatt of Charlotte; a brother Brazette H. White of Rockingham; three sisters, Miss Laura White, Miss Mary White, and Mrs. Barton Howell, all of Rockingham; and five grandchildren.
