Raymond was born in Ava, Missouri, on January 19, 1920, the son of Raymond Dewey and Ida Angeline (Frye) Clements. In the fall of 1936 the family moved to Humboldt when he was 16 years old. Clements, 89, Humboldt, Kansas, died Thursday, August 20, 2009 at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute, Kansas. Raymond was born in Ava, Missouri, on January 19, 1920, the son of Raymond Dewey and Ida Angeline (Frye) Clements. In the fall of 1936 the family moved to Humboldt when he was 16 years old. He had worked on farms, and the Santa Fe Railroad until Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on December 9, 1941 and was inducted December 31st. He was stationed in Australia and New Guinea and was discharged on January 6, 1944. Raymond was united in marriage to Daisy Massey on February 24, 1945 in Girard, Kansas. She survives. After his discharge from the military, he worked for North American Defense Plant making B-25's, and then for the Katy Railroad. Raymond began working in the laboratory at Monarch Cement in 1944, and was there until his retirement on August 31, 1986 after forty-two years. Raymond loved hunting, fishing, and working with his birddogs. He especially loved spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife Daisy; a son, Randy Ray Clements of Wichita, KS; grandchildren, Raymond Joseph, James Edward, and Nicholas Ray; great-grandchildren, Grady Ray, Lillian Mae and Bradon Ray; one sister, Betty Sue Whitaker of Humboldt, KS; three brothers, Rex Clements of Humboldt, KS, Howard Clements of El Dorado, KS, and Bobby Dean Clements of Chanute, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Joanne Guy and Mary Helen Kaufman; and five brothers, Charles, John, Bill, Jerry and Dewey Lee. Cremation has taken place. Graveside inurnment services will be Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Humboldt, Kansas. Memorials in his name may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, Burn Unit, and may be left with the funeral home. Penwell-Gabel Humboldt Chapel is in charge of arrangements. *************************
