Paul, Donald Johnson and Robert Baudine, Jr. Jacobsen Funeral Home at St. Paul was in charge of arrangements. Ray D. Arnold, son of Rev. William and Winifred (Prince) Arnold, was born April 7, 1891 in a sod house in the Gage Valley Precinct of Howard County, Nebraska. He entered into rest on September 1, 1983 at St. Paul, Nebraska at the age of 92 years. Ray received his education at Gage Valley School and grew to manhood in this area. He attended and graduated from the York College. Ray then moved back to Palmer where he taught school. In 1916, Ray became the Howard County Treasurer. On May 3, 1917, Ray was united in marriage to Florence Ane Nelsen at St. Paul. The couple made their home in St. Paul where Ray owned an insurance business and worked in farm management. In 1930, the couple moved to Chicago where Ray worked for the Joint Stock and Land Bank of Des Moines in stock receivership. Ray and Florence move to Iowa Falls, Iowa in 1932, where Ray had his own insurance business and worked in farm management. In 1966, after Ray's retirement, the couple returned to St. Paul. Ray moved to the Parkside Plaza in St. Paul in 1975. He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. John (Helen) Gustafson, of Des Moines, Iowa; a son, Max Arnold of Bel Air, Maryland; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Florence; a sister, Carrie Nicholas; and two brothers, Hugh and Dr. Merton Arnold.
