Description	:	Raymond George Fischer, son of Edward Henry and Louise Anna (Hans) Fischer was born August 26, 1912, in Hartington, NE. He entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, in Sergeant Bluff, IA at the age of 98. Ray was raised in the area of his birth. He attended country school then went to Wynot High School graduating in 1931. While in school, Ray pitched for the baseball team. Read More	Raymond George Fischer, son of Edward Henry and Louise Anna (Hans) Fischer was born August 26, 1912, in Hartington, NE. He entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, in Sergeant Bluff, IA at the age of 98. Ray was raised in the area of his birth. He attended country school then went to Wynot High School graduating in 1931. While in school, Ray pitched for the baseball team. In 1934, Ray moved to Whiting, Iowa and worked on a ranch north of town. On January 28, 1935, Ray was united in marriage to Mable Bliven. To this union, six children were born: Carol, Jerry, Kenny, Ron, Marilyn, and Dean. The family made their home on farms north of Whiting and Ray farmed for several years retiring in 1964. That same year, Ray and Mable moved into Whiting and he began working as a custodian at the school until retiring in the late 70's. Mable passed away on June 6, 1999, and Ray continued making his home in Whiting until moving to Sergeant Bluff in 2006. Ray enjoyed woodworking, watching baseball, music and traveling during retirement. Ray was a long-time 4-H Leader, a member of the NFO and was active in the Whiting Christmas Organization.
