Description	:	Kansan - September 20, 1951 Raymond Richard Killed When Car Hits Bridge Raymond George Richard, lifelong resident of Concordia, was killed instantly Wednesday morning when his car, a 1948 Chrysler sedan, struck a bridge abutment about two miles west of Glasco on Highway 24. It is thought that Mr. Richard went to sleep momentarily and when he awoke it was too late to avoid a crash. Read More	Kansan - September 20, 1951 Raymond Richard Killed When Car Hits Bridge Raymond George Richard, lifelong resident of Concordia, was killed instantly Wednesday morning when his car, a 1948 Chrysler sedan, struck a bridge abutment about two miles west of Glasco on Highway 24. It is thought that Mr. Richard went to sleep momentarily and when he awoke it was too late to avoid a crash. The car was thrown to the opposite side of the road and landed on its top about halfway down the creek bed. It is not known what time the accident occurred, but the wreckage was found by the road maintenance men when they came around 7 o'clock. Dr. Frank Kinnamon, the coroner, was called to the scene of the accident and he set the time at about 5 o'clock. Mr. Richard sustained head injuries and body bruises. Mr. Richard was born in Concordia July 19, 1910 and was 41 years of age at the time of his death. He attended the Concordia schools and had been employed as a loader operator at the Cloud Ceramics since it started operation in April 1946. His marriage to Miss Frances Snyder took place in Clay Center October 14, 1933. Surviving are his wife; two children, Shirley Rae and Raymond Dean, both of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Med Richard, of Concordia; one brother, Gilbert Richard, of Nampa, ID and three sisters; Mrs. Jack Kaufman and Mrs. Noel Vignery of The Dalles, Ore., and Miss Irene Richard of Concordia. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Baptist church, in charge is Rev. Kenneth Ellsworth. Burial will take place in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
