Funeral services will be held Monday, April 30, 2007 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Linton with Rev. Gary Benz and Rev. Leonard Eckroth officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Ray Wikenheiser was born February 5, 1932 in Linton, ND, the son of Wendelin & Barbara (Baumgartner) Wikenheiser. He attended and graduated from the Strasburg High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956. After his discharge, he attended St. Thomas College in St. Paul, MN graduating in 1960. While he was teaching, he also received his Masters Degree in Administration from NDSU. Ray married Mary Ann Burgad at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church on August 17, 1963. Following their marriage, they lived in Strasburg where he taught school. He also taught school in Bismarck at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit and also in Herreid, SD until his retirement in 1997. Ray was also a principal in Bismarck and Herreid. Ray served two terms in the ND House of Representatives for District 28 and was also an Emmons County Commissioner for 3 terms. He was a member of the Linton American Legion, Strasburg VFW and a lifetime member of the Strasburg Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed gardening and visiting with family and friends. He is survived by one brother and sister-in-law: Clarence and Nina Wikenheiser of Strasburg, ND; three sisters and one brother-in-law: Bertha and Teoph Balliet of Linton, ND, Victoria Voller of Strasburg, ND and Eleanor Ledger of Bismarck, ND and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1995 and two brothers: William and Alois.
