Description	:	STOCKPORT — R. Keith Snyder, 85, of Stockport, died at 4 p.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at University Hospital, Iowa City. He was born Dec. 31, 1921 at Garden Grove to Forrest Roy and Ruby Phipps Snyder. He married Geraldine Akin Aug. 10, 1945 at Dermott, Ark. Keith Snyder, 85, of Stockport, died at 4 p.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at University Hospital, Iowa City. He was born Dec. 31, 1921 at Garden Grove to Forrest Roy and Ruby Phipps Snyder. He married Geraldine Akin Aug. 10, 1945 at Dermott, Ark. He grew up in Decatur County and graduated from Garden Grove High School. The family moved to Stockport in 1943 where they operated a produce business. Keith served in the U.S. Army during World War II, was a self-employed carpenter and drove a school bus for Van Buren Community Schools. He was a member of Stockport Christian Church and Elvin E. Cecil Post No. 147, American Legion, Stockport, served as Stockport Fire Chief for 20 years and had been a member of the former Stockport Odd Fellows Lodge. Surviving are his wife; a son, Raymond Snyder and wife, Ellen of Stockport; two daughters, Connie McWilliams and husband, Gary of Mount Pleasant and Sara Kearney and husband, Michael of Stockport; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Jeri Pratt of Chillicothe, Mo. and Louise Lanam of Quarryville, Pa. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Forrest and Norman “Butch” Snyder; and two sisters, Donna Carrico and Ruby Dorothy. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2007, at the Stockport Christian Church with John Griffith, Minister officiating. Burial with military rites by Elvin E. Cecil Post will be in Spencer Cemetery, Stockport.
