Description	:	Raymond L. Sheets, 83, formerly of Larwill, died Friday, March 2, 2018 at his home in Warsaw. He had been in failing health. He was born August 4, 1934 Willet, New York, a son of the late Evan and Goldie Catherine (Walter) Sheets. His formative years were spent in Courtland County, New York. Sheets, 83, formerly of Larwill, died Friday, March 2, 2018 at his home in Warsaw. He had been in failing health. He was born August 4, 1934 Willet, New York, a son of the late Evan and Goldie Catherine (Walter) Sheets. His formative years were spent in Courtland County, New York. In 1948, the family moved to Larwill where he attended Larwill High School. On October 18, 1954, he entered the U.S. Air Force. He became an aircraft mechanic and was attached with the 374th bomber squadron at Hunter Air Force Base. Returning to the area, he went to work with the former Grip Nut Company in South Whitley which was later purchased by Black and Decker where he retired. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was a charter life member of the American Motorcycle Association. Always an aircraft enthusiast, he loved to build model airplanes. He is survived by 3 siblings, Mary Corner, Columbia City, Alice Stewart, South Whitley and Keith Norman Sheets, Pierceton. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Alan, Kenneth, Lawrence, Eldon Bud and Paul Sheets; and 3 sisters, Hallie May Sheets, Annabelle Brower, and Ruby Sheets. The funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial be at the Eberhard Cemetery with the Korean War Veterans presenting honors. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until the service Friday at the funeral home.
