Description	:	Ray was born the son of Elwood and Pauline Lang Burlingame in Grinnell, Iowa on January 9, 1950. He was raised in Brooklyn and received his education in Grinnell, where he graduated with the Grinnell High School class of 1968. He then attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. While on vacation at the Orcadia Lodge at Spider Lake near Hayward, Wisconsin, he met Susan Anglin. They were united in marriage at St. Mary of the Lake in Plymouth, Minnesota on April 5, 1997. He was raised in Brooklyn and received his education in Grinnell, where he graduated with the Grinnell High School class of 1968. He then attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. While on vacation at the Orcadia Lodge at Spider Lake near Hayward, Wisconsin, he met Susan Anglin. They were united in marriage at St. Mary of the Lake in Plymouth, Minnesota on April 5, 1997. The couple lived in St. Louis Park, Minnesota before moving to Iowa City in 2001. He worked in sales for most of his life and worked for companies such as AT&T and the World's Toughest Rodeo. He held a special love for music and was a gifted drummer who played in several bands such as the Mojos and more notably the band Quarry that will be inducted into the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in September of 2007. He was an I Club member who rarely missed an Iowa Hawkeye football game, and was a season ticket holder since the 1970's. Ray is survived by his wife Susan of Iowa City, Iowa; his mother Pauline Burlingame of Grinnell; his brother Roger Burlingame of Orem, Utah; his nephews Larry (Laura) Burlingame of Orem, Utah and Lowell Burlingame of Gray, Louisiana; his niece Lani Jo (Simon) Tarr of Gray, Louisiana. Ray was was preceded in death by his father Elwood Burlingame on February 16, 1988; and his sister Marilyn Burlingame on May 27, 1949. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Raymond L. Burlingame Memorial Fund and will benefit Hospice of Eastern Iowa. Smith Funeral Home - Grinnell
