Read More	Raymond Nelson Eaton June 25, 1929 - April 14, 2012 Raymond Nelson Eaton was born on June 25, 1929 at his Granddad's homestead near Glendo, Wyoming to Dorothy and Roger Eaton. His early childhood years were spent on his parents' homestead nearby. When he was eight years old his family moved to Chadron where he attended grade school and graduated from high school. In 1947, he went to barber college in Omaha, Nebraska. Upon graduating he barbered in Chadron for 25 years. He married Dixie White in 1950. They would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in August of this year. They had one son, Jake, who passed away in 1972. In 1967, they became guardian parents of Chuck Jacobs. Raymond served seven years with the Nebraska National Guard rising to the rank of sergeant. He and Dixie owned property east of town on Bordeaux Creek, but in 1972 they moved to a Whitney farm and into Whitney in 1976 where they continued farming and ranching for four more years. During that time, he worked for the Forest Service with Pete Witte, Bill Ramm and Jan Storjohann. After retiring in 1995, he found a special interest in his mules, especially Jack, and was often seen at special events and 4th of July parades with either of them, or a team on Percheons, which he treasured, pulling a training wagon. They belonged to a riding club and made lifelong friends with its members. Raymond belonged to the Masonic Lodge and was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church for 61 years. He will be missed by his loving family and many friends. He is survived by his wife Dixie, his adopted son, Chuck Jacobs, and his sister Ellen Armstrong. His brother, Skip, was deceased on December 1, 2011. Sister-in-law Wilma Eaton and Dona Fleming survive, as well as eight nieces and nephews, and twenty-one grand nieces and nephews. He had seven dogs, all named "Frosty." The current "Frosty" will surely miss him too.
