He felt the attack coming on, came down from the scaffold and the priest called a physician, but Mr. Baack was dead when the doctor arrived. Raymond Baack was born in Sioux City, November 10, 1910, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Baack. He came to LeMars in 1929 with his parents, later lived in Remsen six years and in 1945 came back to LeMars where he worked as a painter and decorator. On June 20, 1933, he was married at Remsen to Olivia Wilberding, who with six children survives him. The children are Billie, Jane, Mary Ellen, Ronald, Kenneth and Raymond Jr. He is also survived by his father, Wm. Baack of LeMars and five sisters, Mrs. John Haag, Cherokee, Mrs. Andrew Haag, Stacy, Minn., Mrs. Stephen Carroll, Hinton, Mrs. Elmer Christiansen, Granville, and Mrs. Clifford Bauerly, Merrill. Mr. Baack was active in the American Legion and Elks and an officer in the following societies: President of the Holy Name Society of St. Joseph Catholic church, president of the LeMars Aerie FOE and warden of Trinity Council Knights of Columbus. He was a World War II veteran and graveside services will be conducted by Wasner Post American Legion. Funeral services will be at St. Joseph Catholic church at 9:30 am Saturday, September 25, conducted by Msgr. J.D. Fisch and burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery. Six of his nephews will set as pallbearers. The remains will be at Wiltgen's Funeral Home until time for service. The Catholic Daughters will say the Rosary at 8:30 Friday evening.
