Description	:	Raymond Verle Cox, son of John A. and Myrtle(Dent)Cox, was born September 18, 1932, in Wayne County, Iowa. He passed away January 19, 2015 at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 82 years, 4 months and 1 day. Raymond was a life-long resident of Wayne County. He graduated from Cambria Consolidated School. Raymond was united in marriage to Nellie Orndorff on December 28, 1951, and to this union three children were born. Read More	Raymond Verle Cox, son of John A. and Myrtle(Dent)Cox, was born September 18, 1932, in Wayne County, Iowa. He passed away January 19, 2015 at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 82 years, 4 months and 1 day. Raymond was a life-long resident of Wayne County. He graduated from Cambria Consolidated School. Raymond was united in marriage to Nellie Orndorff on December 28, 1951, and to this union three children were born. Raymond enlisted in the Army Reserve October 16, 1952 and served a period of three years in Company A328-Engineer Battalian. He was discharged with the rank of Sergeant. Raymond worked for Whitley Chevrolet for many years. He later worked at the Ford dealership as a general manager for several years, and received an award for excellent service. He began driving a truck for Hove Trucking out of Stanhope, Iowa where he delivered farm equipment. Raymond then owned and operated Cox Auto for thirty plus years until his retirement. He enjoyed camping, collecting antiques, boating and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, John A. and Mytle(Dent)Cox; children Jerry Ray and Patti Ann(Cox)Casey; brothers, Larryh Dale and Dean Cox; sister-in-law, Willie Jean Cox; grandchildren, Bradley James and Anthony Casey; and one great-granddaughter, Matti Lachner. Raymond is survived by his wife Nellie(Orndorff)Cox; son, Steven Dwayne Cox(Cheryl); brothers, Vernon Cox and Daryl Cox(Hazel Dean); seven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed by many friends and relatives. Graveside Service Friday, January 23, 1:30 pm, Corydon Cemetery, Corydon, IA.
