Description	:	Dean Freeman Cox, son of John Anderson Cox and Myrtle Annis (Dent) Cox was born on a small Iowa farm in Wayne County. Dean was united in marriage to Willa Jeanne Grimes on August 13, 1947. To this union three children were born: Cheryl Christine, Joyce Ann and Jeffery Keene. Read More	Dean Freeman Cox, son of John Anderson Cox and Myrtle Annis (Dent) Cox was born on a small Iowa farm in Wayne County. Dean was united in marriage to Willa Jeanne Grimes on August 13, 1947. Dean was strongly involved in the Democratic Party, American Legion Post 68, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Gideon's. Dean was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Corydon. Dean joined the military, serving in the Navy during World War II, and then transferred to the US Army reserves for 40 years where he retired at the rank of Command Sergeant Major. Throughout Dean's time in Wayne County he served the following organizations: Iowa Veterans Council for 17 years chairman for 7 year. He was honored to request the Iowa Patriot Guard Riders and Russell E. Marshall American Legion Post 68 to render the final military rites at his funeral. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, brother Larry Dale, sister-in-law Lois Cox, nephew Major Jerry Cox, and his father and mother-in-law Roy and Golda Grimes. Dean is survived by his wife Willa Jeanne, daughters Cheryl Christina and husband Todd Elstron of Kirkland, Washington and Joyce Ann and husband Bob Hysell, Jr. of Corydon, son Jeff Cox and wife Rhonda of Corydon, grandchildren Aharon and wife Arina Elston, Trevor and wife Kelly Elston and Shaun Elstron all of Seattle, Washington area, Travis and Leslie Hysell of Oskaloosa, Megan and husband Joe Douthart of Allerton, Rusty and wife Tiffany Hysell of Agency, Chris and wife Ashley Hysell of Corydon, and Jennifer and husband Lance Wilson of Mercer, Missouri. Other survivors include great grandchildren Sienna Elston, Jade Hysell, Mahala Douthhart, Lexi Douthart, Dylan Douthart, Dalaynie Douthart, Bailin Hysell, Collin Hysell, Paradise Hysell, Trey Wilson and Aubrey Wilson, brothers Vernon Cox of Tama, and Daryl Cox and wife Hazel Dean, Raymond Cox and wife Nellie all of Corydon and many nieces and nephews.
