Lewis, 80, widow of the late Luther J. Lewis, of Crisfield, died at 5:15 o'clock Wednesday morning of last week at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G. R. Powell, in Cape Charles, Va., following a lengthy illness. Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 o'clock Friday morning from Mrs. Powell's residence by the Rev. J. J. Lewis, of Crisfield, died at 5:15 o'clock Wednesday morning of last week at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G. R. Powell, in Cape Charles, Va., following a lengthy illness. Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 o'clock Friday morning from Mrs. Powell's residence by the Rev. J. J. Bunting, of Elkton, Md., and the Rev. C. M. Elderdice, of Crisfield, and the remains were taken to Crisfield for interment. Mrs. S. E. Collins and Mrs. William F. Horner, Jr. sang "Good Night and Good Morning" and John Herbert Hopkins of Parksley, a nephew of the deceased sang "Sunrise Tomorrow", accompanied by Mrs. J. P. Applebaugh. Pallbearers, all nephews of the deceased, were Fred and Harvey Mears, of Onancock, Carson Lewis and John Herbert Hopkins of Parksley, Simmons Tilghman, of Annapolis, Md. and George Long, of Hampton. Mrs. Lewis is survived by her daughter; two sons, Mark C. Lewis of Alexandria, Va., and Ralph Lewis, of Washington, D. C.; three grandsons, Pfc. Richard Lewis Parks, of Fort George G. Meade, Md., Ralph Lewis, of New York and James Tilghman Lewis, USNR; a granddaughter, Mrs. Thomas J. Carey, of Oakland, Calif.; seven brothers, Lorenzo, of Crisfield, Fletcher Martin and O. C. Lewis, of Parksley, Philip of Onancock, Webster of Newport News, Herbert, of Philadelphia, and Ellwood Lewis, of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Mrs. C. T. Hopkins, of Parksley, and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lewis, a native of Accomack County, was the daughter of the late James S. and Rachel Rew Lewis. Following her marriage she made her home in Crisfield and after the death of her husband eleven years ago went to reside in Cape Charles.
