Read More	PANGLE, REBECCA—Mrs. Rebecca Pangle died at her home in Geneva township three miles northwest of Geneva at 5:10 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 1920, aged 72 years and 13 days. She had been feeling badly for some time but did not take seriously ill until Thursday morning. Rebecca Ellen Carpenter, daughter of James W. and Susan Carpenter was born in Fairfield county, Ohio, January 18, 1848. She was married to Mordecai Pangle October 28, 1869 at Delphos, O. In 1871, Mr. and Mrs. Pangle came to Nebraska and homesteaded three miles northwest of Geneva. This continued to be Mrs. Pangle’s home until her death or for fifty years lacking two months. Undoubtedly she is the last one of the old pioneers who continued to reside on their original homestead in this vicinity. Mr. Pangle died in May, 1913. To Mr. and Mrs. Pangle were born eleven children, of whom ten survive. All but one was born on the home farm. They are Mrs. Sue Johnston of Lincoln; Mrs. Emmett Stone of Omaha; Will of Geneva; Mord of Chadron; Isaac and Charles of Geneva; Bliss of Spokane; Ben, Ross, and Mrs. Josephine Bixby of Geneva. Dora died in September, 1911. There survive also 2 step-daughters, Mrs. Nettie Benedict and Mrs. Clayburn Heckard of Chicago, and a brother, Lincoln Carpenter of Curtis and five sisters, fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The funeral took place at the home Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock and was conducted by Rev. R.H. Thompson. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. All of the children were able to attend the funeral, except Mrs. Stone who is seriously ill. Among others attending from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. L. Carpenter of Curtis, Ralph Stone of Lincoln; Mrs. Mae Morris of Omaha; Mrs. J.O. Mengshol of Lincoln; and Mrs. Herbert Ashton of Miles City, Mont. The Nebraska Signal February 5th, 1920 page 2.
