Read More	PANGLE, IRA DAVID—The passing of Ira David Pangle at his home in Geneva, Neb., Wednesday evening, December 19, 1951, took from the community a member of a pioneer family. His parents, Mordecai and Rebecca Pangle, came to Fillmore county in the fall of 1871, and homesteaded on the farm now owned by Charles Pangle. Ira was born on this farm December 27, 1878. He took advantage of the opportunities for education as offered by the early years of this locality. He attended school in District No. 12, after which he farmed with his parents and his brothers. December 15, 1909, Mr. Pangle was united in marriage to Miss Maude Ashcraft. They began life together on a farm north of Geneva, where they lived from 1909 to 1927, at which time they moved to Geneva on account of Mr. Pangle's poor health. To this union were born two children, Dale and Mrs. Eric (Margaret) Johnson, both of whom with his companion were at their father's side when he took his departure. Plagued with a health problem for many years, Mr. Pangle went bravely on giving of what he could to the cause of life around him. His farm was a gathering place for school picnics, and the children found a welcome to the facilities of the home and grounds. He will be long remembered by many for these and other acts of kindness. His thoughts were always of others where they might have been for himself. Mr. Pangle was not affiliated with the church, but only a few days before his passing, he humbly took the vows of baptism, accepting Jesus Christ as his Savior. In a fin frame of mind he received the rite of baptism, giving evidence that the Christian beliefs and ways were not new to him. His last illness was not long. December 5 he began to lose ground, and before long it was evident that his strength was ebbing. December 19 about 6 o'clock, he calmly passed into the eternal, having nearly reached his 73rd anniversary of birth. In his passing, he leaves his companion of 42 years of wedded life, a life made dearer by the many years of car for one another. His children, Dale and Margaret, grandchildren Margaret Ann Johnson and Robert Dale and Barbara Pangle, also remain. He also leaves two sisters and four brothers, Susan Johnston of Lincoln, Parmelia Stone of Portland, Ore., William, Charles and Ross Pangle of Geneva, and Bert Pangle of Woodstock, Ill. His parents, two brothers, Mordecai and Bliss, and two sisters, Mrs. Dora Strong and Mrs. Josephine Bixby, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at the Hrubesky-Farmer Funeral home Sunday, December 23, Rev. William G. Bohi officiated. Mrs. H. A. Rosenau sang "In the Garden" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Mary Ann Hrubesky was accompanist. Pallbearers were Joseph Bixby, John R. Bixby, Ray L. Cellar, J. L. Cumberland, Howard Hamilton and Melvin Ralston. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
