Little, three miles north- west of that place, by which his aged mother, Mrs. Rebecca Little, widow of the late Simon Little, lost her life in a horrible manner. Read More	BURNED TO DEATH Sad Fate of Mrs. Rebecca Little, Aged 86, Near Jamestown. We received word this morning, by telephone from Jamestown, of a very sad accident which occurred at the home of Jno. Little, three miles north- west of that place, by which his aged mother, Mrs. Rebecca Little, widow of the late Simon Little, lost her life in a horrible manner. The accident occurred about 3:30 yester- day afternoon. The aged lady was seated by a stove when her clothes caught fire, but just how no one knows, as she was for the moment alone in the room. A grandson who was in the next room heard her screams and ran to her rescue, throwing a bucket of water on her at once and then calling his father, who was out near the barn. The father came and the flames were put out, but not until nearly all her clothes were burned off her and her flesh was burned to a crisp all over her. She suffered greatly and died about 7 o'clock in the evening. Mrs. Little was eighty-six years of age and was one of the pioneer citizens of Ross township and highly es- teemed. She leaves two sons, John and Zara, of the same locality, and three daughters, Mrs. Rev. Kelly, residing in Jamestown, and Mrs. John Davis and Mrs. Harvey Sheley, both of Indiana. She was an aunt of Hon. John Little, of this place. The funeral will take place from the residence Wednesday at 11 o'clock. from: The Xenia Daily Gazette Monday, November 6, 1899
