Eliza Jane Insley was born near Cedarville, Ohio, February 18, 1828. She was married to Joseph Prevost at Xenia, Ohio, April 19, 1848 and soon after moved to Kirkwood, Illinois, and where they lived until October 1872, when they moved to near Villisca, where the deceased lived until December 1907, when she went to Corning to make her home. She was the mother of 12 children, four of whom died when young. The husband died nearly 32 years ago. In her fourteenth year, Mrs. Prevost united with the Methodist Episcopal Church and for more than 67 years, in her modest and quiet way, has lived in the faith. She was prepared for her departure and during her last days often expressed her desire to go Home. Mrs. Prevost's body was brought to Vilisca for interment and the funeral was held Monday afternoon at half past one o'clock at the Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Enoch Hill. The deceased had a host of friends in the vicinity of Villisca, who extend their sympathy to the family in their loss of a true and devoted mother. The children who were present at the funeral were; MRs. D. H. Meyerhoff of Corning; Mr.s W. H. Swift of Shenandoah; Mrs. Alva McCoy, and Wm. Prevost of Villisca. Three daughters, Mrs. Josie Jones of Hood River, Oregon, Mrs. Mattie Lowery, and Mrs. H. E. Wales of Lebanon, Kansas and one son, George of Ferndale, Washington, could not be here for the obsequies. Others who attended form out of town were the granddaughters, Miss Cora Wood of Red Oak and Ethel Prevost of Council Bluffs, Mr. and MRs. Fleming, Mrs. Milner, Mrs. Jones, and MRs.
