Winingar was born in Greenfield, Highland county, Ohio on May 8, 1849. She was married at her father's home in Monroe, Iowa to William H. Strain of Vandalia, Iowa on September 24, 1868. Read More	On last Saturday morning, June 24, 1922, Mrs. W.H. Strain died at her home in Ekalaka, aged 76 years, 1 month and 16 days. Rebecca J. Winingar was born in Greenfield, Highland county, Ohio on May 8, 1849. She was married at her father's home in Monroe, Iowa to William H. Strain of Vandalia, Iowa on September 24, 1868. After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Strain lived for about ten years in Iowa and Missouri. In the late 70's, they located at Niobrara, Nebr., where they resided until 1911, when they came to Montana and filed on a homestead 12 miles southeast of Ekalaka, where they lived for eight years or more. Relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Strain helped them celebrate their golden wedding at their ranch home nearly four years ago. About two and one half years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Strain and their faithful son, A.D. Strain, moved to Ekalaka. Mrs. Strain had been afflicted with a fever sore for forty years, but most of this time was able to attend faithfully to her household duties. She was confined to her bed for about ten weeks before the end came. During all her illness, she was borne up courageously by her faith in her Heavenly Father, in whom she confided when very young and to whom she looked for guidance throughout her whole life. She joined the Baptist church at 15 years of age and since 1870 was an active member of the Methodist church of the Ekalaka church until her death. For more than forty years, Mr. and Mrs. Strain were active workers in the Methodist church in Nebraska. Mrs. Strain's favorite Psalms were the 91st and 23rd. She understood music, was a fine soloist and her voice was used in the church services until her recent declining years. The deceased leaves to mourn her departure, her faithful husband for fifty four years, William H. Strain, a noble and dutiful son to his parents, A.D. Strain, an affectionate brother, John W. Winingar of Buffalo, Wyoming and many relatives and friends in this state and in Nebraska. Funeral services were held at the local church at 2 o'clock on Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. L.D. Harris, pastor of the M.E. church of Baker, assisted by Rev. E.J. Sipes of Ekalaka. Interment in the Ekalaka cemetery. ...Montana News in The Creighton News 13 July 1922
