After his death, she married Adam Hoy on August 16, 1881, in Ottumwa. A child was born to Adam and Rebecca on January 31, 1883, in Ottumwa, but I have found nothing further on that child. In the "Ottumwa Weekly Democrat," of July 10, 1903, a notice was published that Rebecca was filing a petition for divorce from Adam. In that petition, Rebecca stated that Adam had deserted her five years ago. On December 23, 1903, in that same newspaper, a notice was published that the case had been dismissed for want of prosecution. --------------- Obituary From "Ottumwa Evening Democrat," November 28, 1903: DEATH OF MRS. HOY Mrs. Rebecca J. Hoy died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Houn, 803 Wabash avenue, at 8:20 o'clock today, age 62 years. Mrs. Hoy had been a resident of Ottumwa for 33 years and is survived by two children, Mrs. W.H. Dickerson, 921 West Sherman street, and Mrs. Thomas Houn, 803 Wabash avenue. The funeral will be held from the residence of the latter at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon. The service will be conducted by the Rev. R.L. Patterson. Hoy Laid Away in Shaul Cemetery. From Monday's Daily. The funeral of Mrs. Rebecca J. Hoy who passed away at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Honn, 803 Wabash avenue, Saturday morning was held this afternoon from the residence, the services being conducted at 2 o'clock by Rev. R.L. Patterson, pastor of the Willard street Methodist Episcopal church. The interment was in the Shaul cemetery.
