Arrowood who has been in poor health for some time died very suddenly Monday, June 8, 1914 from heart failure. She was one of our pioneer women having come here over forty years ago. Read More	OBITUARY - ALTOONA HERALD, JUNE 11, 1914 Mrs. Rebecca J. Arrowood wife of G.W. Arrowood who has been in poor health for some time died very suddenly Monday, June 8, 1914 from heart failure. She was one of our pioneer women having come here over forty years ago. She was well known over the entire community and highly esteemed by all. Rebecca Jane Shank was born on June 14, 1848 in Greenville, Tennessee. In 1866 she was united in marriage to Mr. G.W. Arrowood. They came to Iowa in 1869 and has lived near Altoona for years, where with her husband they have raised a family of four children. They were the parents of seven children: Fanny, Hattie, Willie, Rosa, Arthur, Grace and Verna. The first three children preceded their mother to the home beyond many years ago. Four children three daughters; Mrs. C.M. Davis and Mrs. Frank Barton of Altoona, and Mrs. Chas Jamieson of Dent, Minnesota and one son Arthur of Altoona with the husband and father are left to mourn her departure. She was a member of the Church of Christ having accepted her Christ years ago and has lived a constant christian life. The funeral was conducted from the Church of Christ Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. Brighten assisted by Rev. McKay of the Methodist church after which the body was laid to rest in the Altoona Cemetery. P.4
