Description	:	Rees Johns was born in Morris Run, Pennsylvania, to Mr. & Mrs. John Henry Johns, immigrants from Wales, and came to Kansas with his parents. Rees married Lottie Smock on January 3, 1900, in Concordia. They started their life together on a farm near Talmo. They were parents of: a son who died in infancy, Sybil Justine, Walter Ward, Mildred Susan, Rose Doris, and Daisy Laura. In 1914 they moved to Hollis to make their home. Read More	Rees Johns was born in Morris Run, Pennsylvania, to Mr. & Mrs. John Henry Johns, immigrants from Wales, and came to Kansas with his parents. Rees married Lottie Smock on January 3, 1900, in Concordia. They started their life together on a farm near Talmo. They were parents of: a son who died in infancy, Sybil Justine, Walter Ward, Mildred Susan, Rose Doris, and Daisy Laura. In 1914 they moved to Hollis to make their home. While there, Rees farmed and was employed by the county maintaining roads. While living in Hollis they endured the first flood in June 1941. The water came up to 17 inches in the house. After the flood they moved from the west side of Hollis to the east side across from the Community Club building. Another flood in 1957 was high enough in the house that Lottie got up on a table until rescued by Gerald Price who came right into the house in his boat to pick her up. Rees was standing at the front door. They continued to make their home in Hollis until ill health forced them to move into rest homes. Rees passed away January 23, 1961, at Metro Rest Home in Jamestown.
