Description	:	Regina Engel, 96, Garrison died Saturday, August 5, 2006, at a Garrison hospital. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at First Congregational Church in Garrison. Burial will be at the Garrison Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9 to 8 at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison and for 1 hour prior to services at the church. Regina was born April 30, 1910, in McLean County, ND to John and Christina (Aldinger) Steinwand. She grew up on a farm north of Garrison and attended rural school. She had a fierce love to learn. On October 15, 1928, she married Christ Engel, Jr. They lived on the Engel homestead east and north of Garrison for 50 years. They then moved into Garrison. Christ died in 1995 and Regina stayed at their home until 2001 when she moved into the McLean County Manor. At the time of her death she was a resident of the Garrison Memorial Nursing Facility. Regina loved her church, fancy work, gardening, flowers and her family. She was also a wonderful cook and baker. She graciously shared her goodies with all of her family. She will be remembered for her love, kindness, and sharing. Her family will miss her dearly. Regina is survived by her four daughters, Bernetta (Mike) Lais, Stanton, ND; Shirley Toole, Bismarck, ND; Juanita (Leland) Grosz, Garrison, ND; LaVern Knutt, Clatskanie, OR; two sons, Elmer (Marlys)Engel, Ravensdale, WA; DeWayne (Wanda)Engel, Garrison, ND;25 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren; sisters Ruth Mehlhoff, Flasher, ND; and Emma Lynne, Letcher, SD; brothers, Alex Steinwand, Garrison, ND, Edward Steinwand, Larneb, KS, and Jake Steinwand, Pasco, WA. She was preceded in death by her husband, son Norman, 2 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
