Read More	Regina Wood Cash, 76, of Amherst (Lowesville), lived well and truly, with love, humor, an indomitable spirit, and with a deep and abiding faith in God, until she joined many of her dearest family members and friends in Heaven, on Sunday morning, Nov. 3, 2013. At the time of her death, she was at home, surrounded by her family whom she loved unconditionally and whom she had taught to love without condition. The family members with her at her death, and surviving her, are her husband and the love of her life for 55 years, George Lincoln Cash; her son and daughter-in-law, Michael E. and Evelyn B. Cash of Temperance; her son, Kevin L. Cash of Naola; her grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Jacob T. and Kristin T. Cash; and her granddaughter, Stephanie G. Cash, all of Temperance. Also surviving Regina, with gratitude for the gift of her love, are the other members of her immediate family, Kevin's son, Harrison Cash and Harrison's mother Deanna B. Cash, of Naola; as well as her granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Dana J. and Brian S. Cash, and her great-granddaughter, Taylor R. Cash, all of Temperance. Regina was born on Sept. 6, 1937, in Woodson, as one of the seven children of Edward D. and Helen Tyree Wood. Waiting for her in Heaven were her parents, her twin brother Ronald R. Wood, her brother Billy D. Wood, her sister and best friend Lorene Wood Massie, and her sister Margaret Wood Kidd. She is survived by her brother, Carroll D. Wood and his wife Kathy; her sister, Lanice Wood Campbell and her husband Willie; and all of her siblings' children and grandchildren. Two sisters-in-law whom she loved as sisters also survive her, Patricia M. Wood and Marie S. Wood Robey. Additionally, she is survived by her brother-in-laws and sisters-in-laws who are George Lincoln's siblings: Magdalene and David Mays, Delbert and Hazel Cash, Lester and Daphine Cash, Gene and Betty Cash, Hazel Stewart, Martha and Donald Meeks, and Betty L. Cash; and their children and grandchildren. More than 60 nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews called her Aunt Gina; numerous cousins dear to her survive as well. She used her gift of never meeting a stranger in the many work roles she held such as a store-keeper, apple-packer, administrative assistant and bookkeeper, assisted living facility administrator, and rural health outreach coordinator at Blue Ridge Medical Center from which she retired. She loved her church, Piney River Baptist, which she joined as a teenager having been baptized in Big Piney River. She belonged to the WMU, taught Sunday School, and the Church benefited, at Homecoming and other occasions, from her extraordinary cooking talents, particularly her macaroni and cheese and corn pudding. For many years, she served Amherst County at the polls each November. She was a founding member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Piney River Volunteer Fire Department, serving as its treasurer, and was known there for her leadership and culinary skills at the annual chitlin' supper. Above all, Regina was an extraordinarily devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She continued the family tradition of defining family as the extended family; holiday dinners at her house often included more than thirty family members along with friends and neighbors who shared much laughter and joy. She will be remembered as the one you called in times of trouble who brought calm and, through example, showed that unconditional love, humor, and perseverance are the qualities that create a life lived to the fullest. Visitation was held Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home. Her funeral will be held at Piney River Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013. Interment will follow in Jonesboro Cemetery. At other times the family will be at Regina and Lincoln's home. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Piney River Volunteer Fire Department, Piney River Baptist Church, or your favorite charity.
