Van Leeuwen Passed Away Last Wednesday After Brief Illness; Services Held On Saturday Jan. 12 Mrs. Rena Van Leeuwen, the only daughter of John and Reindina Slothouber, was born on a farm south of Hull, on August 12, 1893, and died at the age of 52 years, 4 months and 28 days, after a brief illness. The first 15 years of her childhood,were spent ou a farm five miles south of Hull, in 1908 she moved with her parents to Hull, where she grew up to womanhood, and where she was married to Mr. W.G. Van Leeuwen of Zenith, North Dakota, on March 11, 1913, and spent the first three years of her wedded life in Zenith. In the spring of 1916 she, with her husband, moved to their farm northeast of Hull where she made her home until the time of her passing. She leaves to mourn her loss, besides her husband, three children, J. Marie (Mrs. Peter Wegter), John and Gerald J., and one grandchild, Robert Wayne Wegter, all of Hull. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Christian Reformed Church with Rev. J. Hanenburg officiating. Interment was made in Hope cemetery. Sioux County Index 1946-01-17.
