Description	:	As a young man Reuben learned the cooper trade (making boxes, barrels and kegs). At about age 20 he moved with the family to Morgan County, Ohio. There Samuel bought 160 acres at $1.25 an acre. Reuben worked with his father to clear the land of the Poplar trees and worked at his trade til he was 29. Their first table was a board on a couple of flour barrels. Abigail did the spinning for their cloths and the baking and the cooking in a dutch oven and a skillet. Reuben and Abigail lived on this land til 1865 when they purchased grandmother Brown's farm of 80 acres where they lived til 1875. Rueben moved to Denova, Henry County, Iowa in 1875 with ch: John, Benjamin, William Comley and Mary. They moved by iron horse or train. He moved his pure-blooded Menino sheep from Morgan County, Ohio as well as his household goods by train. Reuben purchased a farm of 370 acres that Paylou (Pete) Wilson homesteaded, in Salem twp., section 3 at $20.00 per acre and lived there until his death. The following are all buried in Cedar Creek Cemetery: Benjamin and his wife; Mary and her husband; Amy and her husband; John and his wife and William Comley and his wife.
