Description	:	The Early friends of R J. Jackson pioneer of this community, were grieved to learn of the sudden death Sunday evening from an attack of heart trouble. Mr. Jackson had complained during the day of feeling ill and return early in evening. Soon after he became violently ill and passed away before medical attention to be summoned. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the residents and the M. E. Church with the Pastor, Rev. J. H. Walker conducted the service. Interment was made in the Early cemetery. Ruben Joseph Jackson, some of James and Ursula Jackson was born in Earlville, Delaware County, Iowa February 28, 1868 and died Sunday Jan. 21, 1934, at the aged 65 years, 10 months and 23 day. When five years of age he moved with his parents to Sac County and settled on a farm two miles north of Early, well known as the Jackson farm. His early life was spent on the farm, with the exception of a month now and then attending the rural school. When a young man, he attended Cornell college and in order to further complete his education, he enrolled with Morningside college to during its infant years and had the honor of the one of the Morningside's first students. In May 29, 1895 he was joining marriage to Ms. Eva B. Watts and to this union two children were born, Fay A. of Mitchel South Dakota and James Ray who died at birth. Mr. Jackson became affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal Church of Early at the aged 15 years and has lived faithfully to his church since. He seldom missed the regular Sunday service unless his health would not permit his attending. He was a member of the St. Elmo Lodge A. F. and A.M. No. 462, and O.E.S.No. 118 and Modern Woodmen lodges of Early. Twenty-six years ago he moved from the farm two early where he engaged in business, with which he had been connected continuously until two years ago, when failing health compelled him to cease his labors. He was appointed city clerk six years ago and still have that position at his death. He is survived by his wife ,one son, Fay A. and three grandchildren, James Donovan, Ardyce Evonne and Robert Dale of Mitchel South Dakota also two sisters, Mrs. Emma J. Stone and Mrs. Birdie Houston of Spencer, and two brothers, W. E. of Early and Atlee J. of Belle Plane, Iowa. One brother Charles preceded him two years ago.
