Description	:	Bennett C. Roberts was a native of Pickens County, son of Esther Baker Roberts and the late (Gordon) Guy Roberts. He served his country in the US Army during World War II. He graduated from Marion College in Marion, IN and was pastor of Fellowship Wesleyan Methodist Church near Iva, and was also an English teacher at McCants Junior High School in Anderson, SC. He was critically injured in a two-car accident near Iva, SC, on Sunday evening, January 31, and died during surgery early the next morning. He graduated from Marion College in Marion, IN and was pastor of Fellowship Wesleyan Methodist Church near Iva, and was also an English teacher at McCants Junior High School in Anderson, SC. He was survived by his wife, Mrs. Rachel Jamison Roberts; a son, Junior Roberts, and two daughters, Miss Gail Roberts and Miss Jeannie Roberts, all of the home in Anderson, SC; his mother, Esther Baker Roberts; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Lillie Jamison of Greenville; five sisters, Mrs. Tommy Jo (Rosalee) Patterson and Mrs. Monroe (Guynell) Durham of Pickens, Mrs. Melvin (Rachel) Posey of Liberty; Mrs. James (Lucille) Porter of Six Mile, and Mrs. Billy (Bethel) Childress of Greenville; four brothers, Glenn Roberts of Greenville, and James Roberts, Jesse Roberts, and Stanley Earl Roberts, all of Liberty. Funeral Services were held Wednesday, February 3, 1960 at Fellowship Wesleyan Methodist Church, where he was pastor, and were conducted by the Rev. K.W. Johnston and the Rev. G.L. Stewart. Burial: Gantt Memorial Park (now known as Liberty Memorial Gardens). Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Greenville SC.
