Darrell M New March 12, 1933 - May 9, 2015 Resided in Abbeville, SC Rev. Darrell M. New, 82, of Abbeville, husband of the late Nancy Simpson New, died at his home Saturday, May 09, 2015 surrounded by his family. Rev. New was born in Abbeville, SC to the late Miller Boyd and Clarkie Scott New. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from Milliken after 45 years of dedicated service. Rev. New was ordained as a minister at the Abbeville Congregational Holiness Church and served as minister of Bordeaux Worship Center in Bordeaux, SC In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Patterson; a son, Billy Ray New; five brothers, M.B., Bobby, Floyd, Albert and Oscar New; four sisters, Lula Mae Singleton, Margie Bundy, Evelyn White and Ruth Simpson. Rev. New is survived by his son, Joe Darrell New and his wife Anita of Bristol, CT; ten grandchildren, Jason Butler, Jennifer New, Carey Patterson (Monica), Joe Darrell New, Jr. (Mandy), Melissa Gonzalez (Miguel), Austin New (Cyndi), Kristen Crabb (Steve), Brian New, Merrideth Barger (Stephen) and Olivia New; Eighteen great-grandchildren; extended close family members, Rosemary and Larry Wilcher of New Mexico. The family will receive friends from 3:00PM to 4:00PM Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the Congregational Holiness Church. Funeral services will begin at 4:00PM on Tuesday in the church. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions in memory of Rev. New may be sent to Hospice of South Carolina, 326 Montague Ave, Greenwood, SC 29646.
