Born in Cateechee, he was the widower of Carolyn Rackley Barrett and a son of the late Raymond G. and Ollie Mae Medlock Barrett. He was currently the pastor at Cateechee Independent Baptist Church, and had also served as pastor of Midway Baptist Church (Sewanee, Tenn.), and Three & Twenty Baptist Church (Easley, S.C.), and was a U.S. Army veteran. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Glenn Vaughn of Six Mile; three sons, and daughters-in-law, Alan and Ann Barrett of Liberty, Michael and Mollie Barrett of Six Mile, and Scott and Amy Barrett of Lexington; two sisters, Lucille Evatt and Nettie Mae Rollins, both of Norris; a brother, George Barrett of Liberty; 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
