Description	:	George Eugene Mann was born at Manville, near Providence, Rhode Island, on March 9, 1867, where he spent his boyhood years with his parents on the farm. After spending four years at Friends School in Providence, he attend Bangor, Maine Theological Seminary for three years; was ordained into the Congregational ministry in 1906 at Freedom, Maine, being sent into every county of Maine but one in some sixty different churches. He spent three years at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine; took a graduate course in Union Theological Seminary, New York City; included in this higher education were six years of Greek; four... Read More	George Eugene Mann was born at Manville, near Providence, Rhode Island, on March 9, 1867, where he spent his boyhood years with his parents on the farm. After spending four years at Friends School in Providence, he attend Bangor, Maine Theological Seminary for three years; was ordained into the Congregational ministry in 1906 at Freedom, Maine, being sent into every county of Maine but one in some sixty different churches. He spent three years at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine; took a graduate course in Union Theological Seminary, New York City; included in this higher education were six years of Greek; four years of Hebrew; four years of Latin; two years of French; one year of German and Spanish. Wishing to go west, he accepted a pastorate at Gaylord, Kansas which lasted for eight years. In the meantime he was married to Miss Lillie Kibbe of Randall, Kansas on January 4, 1916. Wishing to go further west, which was the goal when he resigned as pastor, he went to Colorado, proving up on a homestead, teaching school in the mining camps, doing pioneer preaching and organizing Sunday schools. He spent part of two years in the University of Colorado at Boulder where he majored in Education, fitting himself for being at the head of larger schools; one being superintendent of a consolidated school where six buses were used to convey the pupils; at the same time doing correspondence work out of Denver, Colorado for his continued education; also attended Business College in Colorado Springs. But above all was the enjoyment he had in living the Christian life. His maxim was, "Don't worry, for if you worry you don't trust; and if you trust, you won't worry." On coming to Randall to live, he placed his membership with the Christian church. He passed away early Saturday morning at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 84 years, 11 months and seven days, leaving to mourn his wife, Lillie Mann, and other relatives here, besides his brother Fred A. Mann in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; Herbert Mann of British Columbia; one sister, Mrs. E. Anna Earle of Virginia. He was preceded in death by two sisters who lived in the East. With the passing of Brother Mann, our community will greatly miss the association of a great soldier of the cross. Our loss is heaven's gain.
