Feistner, 47, who resigned recently as pastor of the Salem Lutheran Church north of Superior, died Saturday, March 10, at Madison, South Dakota, where he was visiting. Funeral services were Wednesday, March 14, 1973 at 2 p.m. at the Salem Lutheran Church and burial was in the Salem Cemeterary. The Megrue-Price Mortuary was in charge. Beneke of Spokane, Washington and Mrs. Ralph Dotzenrod of Wyndmere, North Dakota. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, March 15, 1973 Pastor George Julius Feistner was born May 1, 1925, at Lane, South Dakota, the son of William Feistner and Marie nee Krueger. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church, Lane, on May 24, 1925, and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, Ramona, South Dakota, May 21, 1939. He was a graduate of Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa in 1947 and of Wartburg Seminary, Dubuque, Iowa. He was ordained June 1, 1952. He served parishes at Ankeny, Iowa (internship); Princeton and Zimmerman, Minn. 1952-56; Alden and Emmons, Minn. 1956 - 1967; and Salem, Superior, Nebraska since spring, 1967. On September 9, 1952, he married Loretta Schroeder of Belvue, Iowa. She survives along with their 5 children; Leann, Lisa, Lynette, John and Ethan. He was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Harry. He is survived by his mother at Madison, South Dakota and 7 sisters and 5 brothers. Funeral services were held at Madison, South Dakota, March 13. On March 14, services were held from the Salem Lutheran Church, Rural Superior, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Doctor Archie Madsen, Bishop of the Central District; the Rev. Thomas Damrow, Conference Dean, and the Rev. Emil Kuehn officiating. Interment was in the Salem Cemetery. The Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior was in charge of arrangements. Surviving brothers and sisters include Ervin, Martin and Paul, all of Madison; Harold of Hitchcock, South Dakota; and Donald of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; Mrs. Adolph Hammer and Mrs. William Hammer of Ramona, South Dakota; Mrs. Joseph Hanson of Winfred, South Dakota; Mrs. Agnes O'Neal and Mrs. Wayne Myers of Rapid City, South Dakota; Mrs. D.H. Beneke of Spokane, Washington; and Mrs. Ralph Dotzenrod of Wyndmere, North Dakota. Pastor Feistner was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Mr. John Schroeder who made his home his last years at the Salem parsonage. He died April 28, just two weeks before Pastor Feistner's death on March 10. Pastor Feistner served as chairman of the Nuckolls County Ministerial Association, Secretary of the ALC Pastor's Circle and Dean of the South Central Nebraska Conference until his resignation due to his illness. The strength and simple faith with which he faced all of life's problems and especially his last illness and death were made of his confident faith in Christ his Savior, and will always serve as an example for us.
