Read More	Bedford Free Press Thursday September 12, 1907 p. 5 Isaac Hutchinson Dead Isaac [Brown] Hutchinson was born in Brownsville, Pennsylvania, on February 16, 1836, and died at his home in North Bedford on Thursday morning, September 12, from cancer of the stomach. He has been ill for the past year, but had only been bedfast for the past eight weeks, and while all that could possibly be done was done nothing could stay the ravages of the dread disease. At the age of six years he left his Pennsylvania home with his parents and moved to Clay Lick, Ohio. While living in Ohio he was united in marriage to Miss Samantha [Nancy] Leddick, on May 23, 1861, and the following year they moved to Siam, Iowa. After several years residence there they moved to Illinois, where they remained a year and then returned to Iowa, buying a farm a mile and a half north of Siam, and this continued to be their residence until they moved to Bedford six years ago. Seven children were born to this happy couple, six of whom still live. They are Mrs. Martha Clayton, Wisner, Neb; Mrs. Mary Hosman, Bedford; John A. [lbert], Siam; Mrs. Rebecca Hosman, Siam; Isaac B.[rown], Siam; Mrs. Anna McFarland, Siam; Charles W. died in1865. Aside from the children and an aged and heart broken wife he also leaves several brothers and sisters to mourn his loss. They are Wilse, John and Carl, of Horton, Kas; Samuel, of Kansas City; Abraham, of Villisca; Mrs. Mary Hankins and Mrs. Melinda Burnham, of New Market, and Mrs. Dillie Bramble, of Thayer, Mo. The deceased first became a Mason at Siam and when he moved here he transferred his allegiance to the local lodge, which had charge of the ceremonies at the cemetery at Siam where the burial was held on Sunday forenoon. Rev Dunlavy, of Gravity, conducted the funeral services at the church at Siam. All the relatives named, except the brother, Abraham, at Villisca, were in attendance at the funeral, and also a cousin, Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Brown, of Pacific Junction, Iowa. The sympathy of all goes out to the bereaved ones in their loss of an affectionate husband. The ritualistic services of the Masonic fraternity were conducted at the cemetery by Taylor lodge of Bedford, of which Brother Hutchinson was a member, assisted by Plumb Lodge, of Siam, in which he first became a Mason. He was raised until six years in Pennsylvania, when he moved to Licken [Licking] Co., Ohio. Here he grew to manhood receiving his education in the schools of this state. He was married May 3, 1861 to Samantha Leddick. In 1862 he and his wife with his father's family came west and settled in Siam, Taylor county Iowa. He followed the occupation of farming and suffered many of the hardships and privations of the early pioneers of a new country. During the early history of our county he was an active citizen in organizing the township and assisting in all ways possible to establish good schools. His life has always been characterized by sobriety, industry, frugality and such other virtues as go to make a good citizen, and kind neighbor. He was a charter member of the Masonic Lodge of Siam, and was practitioner of the tenets of that institution. His family consisted of seven children, six of whom together with his wife survive him. They are Mrs. W. [illiam] E. [llsworth] Clayton [Martha], of Wisner. Neb., Mrs. C. [assius] M. [onroe] Hosman [Mary Lou] of Bedford, John A. [lbert] Hutchinson, Mrs. I. [saac] C. [hester] Hosman [Rebecca], I. [saac] B.[rown] Hutchinson and Mrs. Milt McFarland [Anna]. The latter four living in Siam, Iowa. Bro. Hutchinson moved to Bedford in 1901 where he died at his home Sept. 5, 1907. The funeral services were held in the Siam Christian church on the following Sunday, in the presence of a very large audience of sympathizing friends. Four of his brothers being present, Samuel, from Kansas City and John, Clarke and Wilse from Horton, Kansas. Three sisters, Mrs. Mag [Margaret] Bebout from Bedford, Mrs. Mary Hawkins and Mrs. Melinda Burham of New Market, Ia.
