Description	:	John George Weber was born Aug. 10, 1916, in Victoria to Jacob A. and Rosa (Herrman) Weber. He died July 1, 2010, at Kaye Pogue Hospice Center, Salina. John George was ordained a Catholic priest on May 30, 1943. His first Solemn Mass was celebrated June 5, 1943, at Park, Kansas where he grew up. He died July 1, 2010, at Kaye Pogue Hospice Center, Salina. John George was ordained a Catholic priest on May 30, 1943. His first Solemn Mass was celebrated June 5, 1943, at Park, Kansas where he grew up. He was appointed chaplain at St. Joseph Orphanage in Abilene on June 19, 1943. He served as pastor at St. Peter Church in St. Peter. In April 1958, he became pastor at Aurora. On Feb. 10, 1960, he became executive secretary for the National Catholic Rural Life Conference in Des Moines, Iowa where he served until 1976. In June 1963, he was named Papal Chamberlain to Pope John XXIII, and in May 1968, he was named Domestic Prelate. In 1968, he celebrated his Silver Jubilee at his home parish of Park. He served as pastor of Hoxie, with a Mission Parish at St. Martin Church, Seguin On Aug. 1, 1980, he became the Rector at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina, and on July 1, 1987, he became the pastor at St. Peter and Paul Parish, Clay Center, with a Mission Parish at St. Anthony Church, Miltonvale. He celebrated his Golden Jubilee in Clay Center on May 30, 1993. He retired in July 1994 to Salina, where he served as part-time associate pastor at St. Mary Catholic Church and was very active at the St. Mary Grade School, where the children loved him. Survivors included four brothers, Larry Weber and Sil Weber, both of Salina, Martin Weber, Oakley, and Al Weber, Park; three sisters, Magdalena Gassmann and Odilia Riedel, both of Park, and Marie Meier, Hoxie; and many nieces and nephews, including Father Keith Weber, Manhattan, and Father Kevin Weber, Hays. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Philomena; and four brothers, Bartholomew, Henry, Anthony and Celestine.
