Rev. John Holland formerly of Fayette, Mo. died here this morning at 6 o’clock at the home of his daughter Mrs. L. A. Manning Jr. Rev. Mr. Holland was an active member of the Missouri conference of the M. E. Church South for 34 years and was placed on the superannuate list some 10 years ago Rev Mr Holland was past 84 years of age having been born December 15 1856 at Hannibal, Mo. He is survived by his widow Mrs. Emma Fowler Holland who resides with her only daughter at Latta. He leaves two sons both Presbyterian ministers Rev. Paul Holland of Peabody, Kansas and Rev. John Holland of Caldwell, Kansas and a daughter Mrs. L. A. Manning Jr. of Latta. There are three grandchildren by each of his two tons and two grandchildren Mrs. W. S. Bethea of Latta and Cadet James L. Manning of the Citadel by his daughter. He also leaves a granddaughter Marcella Holland, daughter of his late son Clarence Holland who was for a number of years secretary of the Chamber of Commerce of Knoxville, and a great-granddaughter Florence Manning Bethea the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. W. S. Bethea. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Leo Willard and Rev. A. C. Aston of the Latta M. E. Church South assisted by the pastors of the other three churches at the home of L. A. Manning Jr. at 3:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon and interment will be in Magnolia cemetery. The Charlotte Observer Charlotte, North Carolina 08 Feb 1941
