(Source: Taylor County, IA Marriage Records) ================================================= John Joseph, son of August H. and Mary Ruppert, was born at Bushinal (sic), Illinois, August 24, 1871 and died at his home in Chester, Nebraska, March 26, 1951, aged 79 years, 7 months and 2 days. When a small child he came with his parents to Taylor County, Iowa, were he grew to manhood. He was ordained to the ministry in 1895 to which he devoted his entire life, serving churches in Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Illinois and Nebraska. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Edith M. Ruppert; six children, Mrs. Alberta Thompson of Lawrence, Kansas; Mrs. Nellie Wood of San Bernardino, Calif.; Mrs. Lura Berry of Moscow, Idaho; Wayne Ruppert of North Dakota; Virgil L. Ruppert of Chicago, Ill; Paull Ruppert of Concord, Calif.; two stepchildren, Mrs. Roberta Willis of Lincoln, Nebr. and Don Griffin of Denver, Colo.; four sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Wilson of Silverton, Oregon; Mrs. Mary Brockett of Portland, Oregon; Mrs. Sarah Porter of Maywood, Nebr.; Mrs. Kate Thayer of Maywood, Nebr.; four brothers, Homer Ruppert of Fremont, Nebraska; Sam, Frank and Arthur Ruppert of Maywood, Nebr.; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Mr. Ruppert has been in ill health for the past two years, and because of this he retired the first of October, 1949. Funeral services were held in the Christian Church in Chester, Nebraska, Wednesday, March 28, at 1:30 p.m. with burial in the Chester cemetery (sic). Services were in charge of Rev. C.M. Foust.
