Description	:	Lois L. Westfall, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Faith Regional Health Services, Norfolk, Nebraska. Lois was born April 29, 1933 in a farm house in rural Monroe, Nebraska to Roy W. and Lorena D. Johnson. Lois spent a happy childhood, along with her sister Mardette, attending elementary school in Genoa and Platte Center, Nebraska. Lois graduated as a proud Madison Dragon from Madison (NE.) Westfall, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Faith Regional Health Services, Norfolk, Nebraska. Lois was born April 29, 1933 in a farm house in rural Monroe, Nebraska to Roy W. and Lorena D. Johnson. Lois spent a happy childhood, along with her sister Mardette, attending elementary school in Genoa and Platte Center, Nebraska. Lois graduated as a proud Madison Dragon from Madison (NE.) High School in 1950. She dearly treasured her time at MHS where she was an active drama student, band member and cheerleader. Upon graduation, she attended one year at Cottey Women's College, Nevada, Missouri before entering training at the Bishop Clarkson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Omaha, Nebraska. She graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1954. In June 1953 she married medical student, Robert Harris Westfall. Together they had seven children; Thomas, Laurie, Brenton, Ruth, Bridget, Michael and Tracy. In 1976, Lois followed God's calling and attended Austin Theological Seminary in Texas, graduating with Masters in Divinity in 1980. She served as minister at First Presbyterian Church, Superior, Wisconsin from 1986 to 1998. After retiring, Lois returned to her hometown of Madison, Nebraska. Lois has been a member of First United Presbyterian Church, Madison, Nebraska since 1944 and it played a large role in her social and spiritual life. In high school she enjoyed singing in the choir, attended summer camps and was a member of Youth Fellowship and Youth for Christ. In 2010, Lois helped to lead the successful campaign for the church building's preservation. She was a warm-hearted, selfless woman who touched the lives of all who knew her. Lois made friends easily and always kept in touch. She was an avid fisherman, a passion developed at an early age through many cherished summers spent on the lakes of Minnesota with her family. She had a keen interest in antiques and family history, and loved attending auctions and playing bingo. Lois always said the most important, most joyful thing in her life, was her children. Lois is survived by: children, Tom of S.C., Laurie of Texas, Ruth of Iowaa, Bridget of Montana, and Tracy of Texas; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Mardette Lewis of Idaho and a host of family and friends. Lois was preceded in death by: parents and sons, Michael B. and Brenton "Brent" Westfall. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery, Platte Center, Nebraska.
